30 Years of Research, Conservation and Education
Founded in 1977, the Jane Goodall Institute's programs reflect the organisation's holistic approach to wildlife research, conservation and education.
Dr. Goodall serves as a powerful role model for the Roots & Shoots humanitarian and environmental education program, which empowers young people around the world to make change in their own communities, and to initiate projects that help people, animals and the environment.
Supporting thousands of children around the world in their desire to make a difference, we recognise the interconnectedness of all: people, animals and the environment. Whether we are training Tanzanian villagers in sustainable agriculture and forestry, partnering with African women to increase their access to capital through micro-credit or growing awareness in our community in Hong Kong to make our city a better place for us all, we realise that each and everyone of us can make a difference. It all begins with you.
JGI continues to support Dr. Goodall's pioneering research on chimpanzee behaviour research which transformed scientific perceptions of the relationship between humans and animals.
It is also a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats, and is widely recognized for establishing innovative community-centred conservation and development programs in Africa.
